About
Early Learning Centre
We built an early learning centre that closes the gap between what families need and what traditional childcare typically offers: a relationship-based, play-driven program with an intentional curriculum that builds the foundations for lifelong wellbeing.

Our Focus
Our early learning program is designed to help children become the kind of humans most parents hope for: steady, adaptable, connected, and capable.
That means we explicitly teach:
· Emotion regulation
(handling big feelings, calming, recovering)
· Body-awareness
(noticing internal signals like hunger, stress, fatigue)
· Communication
(expressing needs, understanding others, social language)
· Flexible thinking & problem-solving
(coping with change, trying again, finding solutions)
· Relationships & belonging
(connection, friendship skills, repair after conflict)
· Land-based learning
(nature as a co-regulator, building confidence through real-world play)
A Day At Yarrow
Children participate in a thoughtfully structured daily routine designed to support learning, independence, and connection. Each day includes a balance of guided and child-led experiences such as circle time, story time, snack and meal times, free play, music and movement, art, small group learning, pretend play, and regular bathroom routines.
Every part of the day is intentionally guided by our curriculum, ensuring that each
activity—whether it’s play, conversation, or daily routines—becomes a meaningful opportunity for growth and learning.
Our full-day program runs Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:45pm. Once per month, we
close early at 3:45pm on the third Thursday to allow for dedicated team training and
professional development. Unlike many centres, we build in this time intentionally—because the quality of your child’s experience depends on the strength of our team.
What This Looks Like Day to Day
You’ll see children learning through play, movement, outdoor experiences, and warm, responsive relationships — with staff who know what to look for and how to teach skills in the moment. We use predictable routines, co-regulation, coaching language, and child-centered goals so learning is meaningful, not forced.
What Parents Notice First
Research Based Early Learning
Our program is grounded in evidence-based practice and designed with an interdisciplinary lens. This isn’t a model where clinicians are “consulted” from a distance—SLPs, OTs, Behaviour Consultants, and Counsellors are in the centre regularly and directly help shape, coach, and guide the program in real time.
Children benefit from strategies informed by:
· Speech-Language Pathology (SLP): communication, social language, comprehension, and play-based language growth.
· Occupational Therapy (OT): regulation, sensory processing, motor planning, and daily living foundations.
· Behaviour Analysis: flexible thinking, learning readiness, supportive routines, and practical skills for everyday success.
· Counselling: building strong relationships, understanding feelings, and supporting children through big emotions.
We teach the underlying skills that help children feel safe, confident, and capable—building the foundation for lifelong wellbeing and resilience.

What Parents Usually Notice First
As children settle in, you can expect to see:
· More independence with routines and daily transitions (“I can do it!” moments)
· Stronger communication—more words, clearer requests, and better back-and-forth
· Growing confidence in play, learning, and trying new things
· More flexible thinking—easier to shift plans, share, and cope when things don’t go their way
· Deeper connection—warmer peer friendships and more secure relationships with adults
· Improved focus and engagement—sticking with play, tasks, and group moments longer
· A calmer, more regulated baseline—children feel more settled in their bodies and able to reset when they’re challenged
